MERCY SAID NO!

It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness. Lamentation 3:22-23

Having no hope when every piece of evidence is pointing to the fact that we deserve to be punished. If we were to get what we deserved or what judgement demanded, we would have all perished. For a person who has sinned, the response by Judgement is death but in our case, mercy stepped in and said no!

Mercy brings forth compassion, kindness, forgiveness and empathy. Mercy chooses to exempt us from deserving punishment and compassionately sees a hurting heart behind hurtful words. God’s mercy is a direct reflection of His love for us. Mercy is the extension and expression of love, “an act of kindness, compassion, or favour.” Mercy is a peculiar nature of God that shows us His unfailing love

God’s plan springs out from His merciful love for His people. There was no way our deeds could have earned us access or residence in His presence, for this reason, He made a way through the crucifixion of Christ. “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),  Ephesians 2:4-5

Jesus defeated death and gave us access to God the Father. As we consistently dwell in His presence through prayer, studying His word, and fellowship with the Holy Spirit who lives in us, God’s mercy is renewed in our lives each day. “And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth,” Exodus 34:6

God’s faithfulness is never in doubt, even in our shortcomings, mercy continues to speak on our behalf and say no to any deserved punishment by exempting us from them all.  “For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.”  Psalm 86:5

Mercy says no to difficulties without bordering if we deserved or don’t deserve them. The focus of mercy is to bring situations into their original state. We have the responsibility to shout out for mercy, call for mercy and request mercy in any challenging situation we may find ourselves. Just like the blind Bartimaeus in the Bible who received his sights by crying out for mercy…

“And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.” Mark 20:47-49

Mercy allows God to give us His attention! We experience love in the place of hatred, forgiveness in the place of deserving consequences, and compassion in the place of rejection. Whether we deserve it or not, we would be completely lost if it weren’t for the abundant mercy of our gracious Father in heaven.”

There are times we deserve to be judged and declare guilty but mercy stepped into the situation, say No; not guilty and get us out of the mess! God continues to manifest his mercy in our lives without any limitations, so let’s also replicate it by showing others mercy.  “Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. Matthew 5:7

Mercy demonstrates God’s justice and fairness, yet reveals how loving and compassionate God is. Irrespective of the situation you may find yourself in, always remember that mercy is available for you and ever ready to speak on your behalf. “Let us, therefore, come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16

We are forgiven, loved and called the children of the Almighty God because mercy said no to our bondage, no to our sin, and no to sickness and diseases, God’s mercy brought us back to God’s presence and sustained our identity in Christ Jesus. “He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit. Titus 3:5

In conclusion, God’s mercy has been made available for you in Christ Jesus and the price to live the best life could offer you has already been paid by Jesus on the cross. “And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Philippians 2:8

So, whatever is opposing the wonderful life God has given you… Mercy says no to them all; no sickness, no poverty, no untimely death, no hardship and no to any other evil projection against your life and your loved ones in Jesus’s name (Amen)

PRAYER

The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace (Amen) Numbers 6:24-26
