It’s good to declare, “I am blessed and highly favoured,” or quietly believe we have God’s favour. However, God wants His favour to be more than what we say. He wants it to be visible in how we live. The Scripture says, You (God) will arise and have mercy on Zion; for the time to favour her, yes, the set time, has come. Psalm 102:13
While internal favour provides us with quiet strength, peace, and courage, God also loves to do things out of the ordinary so that everyone around you recognises them as a miracle. In Psalm 86:17, when David was facing overwhelming armies, he did not just pray for hidden comfort. He boldly asked, “God, show me a sign of your favour so that my enemies will see it and know that you are God and that you have helped me.” David wanted his life to be a billboard for God’s greatness—a life of visible favour for all to see.
Instead of stressing over your critics, a far better approach is to look up and say, “God, I am going to step back and let you show them your visible favour in my life so that my critics will realise you are fighting for me.” There is absolutely nothing like having the Almighty God put His stamp of approval on your life. It is His way of sending a clear message to the world: “This is my son. This is my daughter. If you are coming against them, you are coming against me.”
When you understand this, you can stay at peace and let God make you shine. Let Him vindicate you and prove to people exactly who you are. Remember, after David defeated Goliath, he never had to spend another second trying to convince people that God was on his side. There was no longer any question. King Saul had previously dismissed David as unqualified, but after that supernatural victory, Saul never doubted his capability again.
The same thing happened with Joshua. He surely had his share of naysayers and doubters whispering that he didn’t have what it takes to replace Moses. But after God made the sun stand still in the sky for him, nobody ever questioned Joshua’s leadership again. God knows exactly how to give you credibility. He knows how to make it undeniable that His favour rests on your life.
We must be conscious of this truth that God wants to make our lives an undeniable example of His goodness, so much so that we do not even have to say a word to prove it. Our results will do the talking for us. When visible favour takes over, your current reality defies human explanation. You could not possibly be where you are today without the hand of God. Perhaps you faced a severe medical challenge that should have taken you out, yet here you are—strong, vibrant, and healthy.
Your sheer presence becomes a testimony. Or maybe a destructive addiction has plagued your family line for generations. By all accounts, you should be struggling and defeated, but instead, you are whole, free, and setting a brand-new standard for your children. You could not achieve that on your own; that is the favour of God showing up on your behalf.
The same is true when you face overwhelming giants of debt, lack, or career stagnation. The odds may be stacked entirely against you, but suddenly, supernatural doors open. The right people show up out of nowhere. Against all logic, you find yourself thriving and living an abundant life. When your circumstances do not match where you logically should be, that is God putting you on display so the world can see His goodness through you.
Do not miss out on this divine backing because you are stuck praying small survival prayers. It is so easy to fall into the habit of complaining: “I don’t know, pastor, I’m just trying to make it through the week. My back hurts, my neighbour gets on my nerves, traffic is terrible, and I haven’t seen a promotion in years.” Listen carefully: if you pray weak prayers, you are going to get weak results. If you pray defeated prayers, you will live a defeated life.
Why not switch your strategy today and start praying “visible favour” prayers? Try saying, “God, I am facing massive challenges at work, but I know you are fighting my battles. I am asking that you give me visible favour today, a favour that everyone will see and say, “This can only be God.” My finances look low, but I know you are Jehovah Jireh, my provider. I’m asking you to do what only you can do.”
The enemy absolutely loves it when we pray safe, survival-driven prayers because they pose zero threat to his plans. You cannot take any real ground when you believe in little and ask for crumbs. When you start praying bold “visible favour” prayers—when you do like David and declare that you will defeat your giants so that the whole world can see God’s greatness—it sends shockwaves through the forces of darkness.
When you call on the name of God with bold faith, angels go to work. Giants come tumbling down, sicknesses lose their grip, addictions break, and supernatural doors swing open. If God could stop the physical sun for Joshua just because he dared to ask, He will gladly stop the negative forces holding you back from your purpose. You just have to dare to ask.
FROM IRREVERSABLE TO UNDENIABLE!
In 1990, a pastor named Duane Miller contracted a severe case of the flu that settled directly in his throat. It “severely altered the nerve pathway from his brain, leaving his vocal cords limp, unresponsive, and functionally useless. Doctors gave him a zero per cent chance of vocal recovery.”
He was even forced to resign from his church; he spent three long years visiting sixty-three specialists and over two hundred doctors. Every single expert gave him the same definitive diagnosis: the damage was completely irreversible, and he would never speak normally again.
On January 17, 1993, he reluctantly agreed to fill in and teach an adult Bible class of 150 people using a highly sensitive microphone just to project his painful wheeze. The pre-selected curriculum that morning happened to be Psalm 103. As he struggled to croak through the verses outlining how God pardons iniquities and heals diseases, he reached verse four: “…who redeems your life from the pit.”
The audio tape recorded the exact second it happened. On the exact pronunciation of the word “pit”, the intense three-year pressure in his throat completely dissolved. Mid-sentence, without a single second’s pause, his voice instantly returned to full, resonant, robust strength. He stopped, swallowed normally for the first time in years, and began to weep as the room erupted into cheers.
When specialists re-examined his throat, they found the scar tissue entirely gone, completely dumbfounded by a miracle captured live on tape. God didn’t just give Duane internal comfort; He gave him a visible favour that shook the medical community. A sign of God’s favour displayed publicly with undeniable proof. What was medically declared irreversible was altered by God’s visible favour of healing.
In the book of First Chronicles, Chapter 4, there is an incredibly long genealogy. It lists over thirty names back-to-back with zero commentary or details. We just read that these people lived, had children, and died. But right in the middle of all that repetition, the writer suddenly pauses in verse nine to say, “There was a man named Jabez who was more distinguished than any of his relatives.”
It was as if the Holy Spirit stopped the writer and said, “Wait a minute, highlight this man. He was different.” Verse 10 tells us exactly why Jabez stood out: “He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, ‘Oh, that you would bless me indeed, that you would enlarge my territory, and that your hand would always be with me.'”
Right in the middle of a generation just coasting by, Jabez dared to pray a bold “visible favour” prayer. God didn’t reprimand him for being selfish or tell him to just fit in. The scripture says, “And God granted his request.” This proves that God does not fault you for praying bold, audacious prayers. He wants to take you places you could never reach on your own.
What makes this even more powerful is that the name Jabez literally translates to sorrow and pain. His mother gave him that name because of a difficult birth. Often, people or circumstances will try to label you based on past pain or negative environments. They might label you as “addicted”, “divorced”, “unqualified”, or “not enough”. But what life tried to name you does not determine who you are.
Irrespective of any negative labels or challenges, choose to be a Jabez. Dare to stand up every morning and say, like David, “God, show me a sign of your favour today. Display your glory through me today to bring you glory.” If you will do this, I decree and declare that your expectations will be exceeded. Like David, you will overcome obstacles that look impossible. Like Joshua, supernatural doors will be opened to you, bringing healing, breakthroughs, abundance, and the fullness of your destiny in Jesus’ name.
