EXTRAORDINARY PRAYERS!

Your line of prayer goes a long way to determine the result of your prayer. Ordinary prayer will give you ordinary results and extraordinary prayer will give you an extraordinary result. 

Asking God to open doors that would normally not open or asking God to take you further than anyone in your family has ever attained can cause you to experience the extraordinary power of God in your life. The scripture says, … ‘As I live,’ says the Lord, ‘just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you! Numbers 14:28

As you read through the scripture, you will see this principle of extraordinary prayer producing extraordinary results; Elisha prayed that it wouldn’t rain… For 3 1/2 years there was no rain.(1Kings 17:1) Joshua prayed for more daylight and God caused the sun to be still. The common denominator is that they asked for the unthinkable. They ask for what has never happened before and they got it! (Joshua 10:12-14)

When was the last time you asked God to do something impossible, something out of the ordinary? One reason we don’t see God doing great things is because our prayer is dominated by praying over food, praying for protection, and praying for wisdom. That’s all good, but it’s limiting what God can do. 

There should be something you are praying about, something that you are asking God for that seems impossible. Something beyond your strength. You don’t have the funding or the connections and God is saying, “Ask me to bring it to pass. Trust me enough to meet your needs and ask me to show you a flood of my favour“.

A lot of times, we pray, “God, touch my child” which is good, but that’s an ordinary prayer. Ordinary prayers get ordinary results. God meets us at the level of our faith. If you ask small, you are going to receive a small result. An extraordinary prayer is, “God, I’m asking you to not only touch my child but use him or her to make an extraordinary difference in life” to the glory of your name.

An ordinary prayer is, “God, help me to have enough to live on this month. God, help me to pay my rent”. There’s nothing wrong with that, but an extraordinary prayer is, “God, I’m asking you to increase me in such a way that I cannot only own a house but help someone to own a house too!

An ordinary prayer is, “God, just take me as far as my parents. But an extraordinary prayer is, “God, help me to take our family to a new level. Let me set a new standard. When people look back 100 years from now, if Christ tarries, they will say, ‘it was that man or that woman, who made the difference”.

Well, pastor, God is merciful, if He wants to bless me, He will bless me”… The scripture says;  you do not have because you do not ask (James 4:2) If you are not asking big, you are shortchanging yourself. You will never reach your great destiny if you only pray small prayers. I’m not talking about just making a wish list and praying every time. I’m talking about asking God for what He has already promised you.

The scripture says, when you walk in God’s ways, you will lend and not borrow (Deuteronomy 15:6). With long life, God will satisfy you (Psalm 91:16). As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15). There are hundreds of promises that you have every right to as a child of God so, ask God to bring them to pass.

Apart from God’s promises, there are specific dreams and desires that God has placed in your heart. They didn’t just randomly show up. The creator of the universe put them in you. They are part of your divine destiny. 

The scripture talks about the secret petitions of our hearts (Psalm 37:4). The hidden dreams that you know are from God. They are so big that you cannot accomplish them on your own. God allowed it that way so it will cause you to put your faith to work. Faith is what pleases God. Faith is what allows God to do the impossible or make the extraordinary happen. 

Sometimes, we can do one or two things and think, “Well, too bad… It didn’t work out for me. I don’t have the connections. I couldn’t get the financing,” or, “The medical report doesn’t look good”. We can talk ourselves out of it, or we can say, “God, I can’t do this in my strength, but I know you are all powerful. So God, I’m asking you to make a way, even though I don’t see a way”.

When you make an extraordinary request in your prayers, don’t be surprised if thoughts come saying, “It’s never going to happen. You come from the wrong family. You have made too many mistakes”. The enemy gets stirred up when you start asking God for big things!

The enemy wouldn’t border you much as long as you pray small or ordinary prayers, but when you start praying extraordinary prayers and start asking God to take you where you have never been before, that’s when those thoughts will bombard your mind, saying, who do you think you are? Just smile and say, a child of the most high God.

Tell God, I’m asking that my child be mighty in the land. God, let them be history-makers. Let them leave a legacy of faith that will be seen for generations to come. Ask God something big! It may seem impossible, trust Him, ask Him to do something about it and allow Him to work!

CHANGING THE IMPOSSIBLE

God is saying, I created the universe. I flung the stars into space. Ask me to turn drug addicts around. Ask me for children who will become history makers. Ask me to part Red Seas, to bring water out of a rock, to show you floods of my favour”. Ask God to do the impossible. God is saying, stretch your faith and pray extraordinary prayers”.

When you face situations in your everyday life that seem impossible, like a car that wouldn’t just start even after you call someone to fix it! God says, “Pray to me. Ask me for that car to start”. Oh, pastor God has bigger things to deal with than getting my car to start. Let me tell you, you are God’s biggest deal.

Some time ago I had a challenge with my radio. For several days I did all I could, and even called someone to fix it for me still the radio refused to respond. One morning, I needed it so badly for a program, that I laid my hand on it and commanded it to start working! Guess what happened? As I switched it on, the radio started working. It was a miracle. I knew at that point, it could only have been God.

Tell God everything about yourself; whether what you think is relevant or irrelevant… You are the apple of His eye. Too often, we limit God. We have a small view of who He is. We think God is up there somewhere far away, running the universe. I can’t bother Him with this small problem. I can only pray if I have some kind of major challenges.

Listen, God knows the number of your hair. He knows your words before you speak them. You are not inconveniencing God by asking Him to help you in your everyday life or your minor issues. God wants to be part of everything that concerns you. 

What am I saying today? When you pray extraordinary prayers, God will show up in a big way. You may not see God do great things because you are only asking for small things. God is saying, “Ask me to open doors that seem impossible. 

Ask me about that business you have been dreaming about. Ask me to give you the secret petitions of your heart”. You have to have this boldness of faith, and say, “God, you promised it. I see it in the scripture, now, do it in my life.

Remember, there are blessings stored up for you right now with your name on them, and if you learn how to pray extraordinary prayers, you will receive those extraordinary favour, you will see your children become mighty in the land. The right people will show up at the right time. God will give you the desires of your heart. 

I decree and declare, that you will see the fullness of what God has in store for you, overcoming every obstacle, defeating every enemy, and becoming everything God has created you to be, in Jesus’ name.
