PUT AWAY THE LUGGAGE!

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. Hebrews 12:1-3

Carrying luggage while running to catch a bus or carrying luggage while on a long walk can be exhausting and challenging. The same could be said about keeping unresolved issues in mind or getting worried about what is yet to be accomplished in your life…

Different things in life can easily be turned into weight and unnecessary luggage for a lot of people. There are too many issues with different people. Issues from the family, from the office, from a former lover, from friends, I mean human beings have a lot of stuff cage inside… Some people can get so used to the luggage or issues that it becomes a part of them…

Moreover, they are also kind of scared to let it go. But I promise you that when we do let go and discard them before the One who loves us and is for us, we shall live unrestricted lives. We shall begin to live, move and have our being in God “for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’  Acts 17:28.

You don’t need to carry those issues! They don’t deserve your attention. You need to get rid of any excess luggage or issues that don’t need to spend your day with you or stay in your company.

Sometimes the burdens people carry have been with them since childhood. Painful experiences during their formative years have gotten a lasting impact, even into their adulthood. Also, the things most people saw, heard, or felt have negatively affected their view of life in general.

It’s possible to be unaware of the luggage because after carrying them for so long, they may have become accustomed to the weight. Perhaps it even feels normal, but it’s not what our heavenly Father wants for His children.

By God’s lovely kindness, He has made available ways for us to come out from carrying unnecessary luggage or issues that easily weigh us down, so we can be free…

God wants His children to let go of their luggage and burden! There is a lot of portion in the scriptures where God speaks of us letting go of our burdens and being free of them. In one of them, the word of God says “Give your burdens to the Lord and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” Psalm 55:22

It’s interesting to note in the verse we just read that God requested to receive your burden and the unnecessary luggage that is weighing you down! That’s how caring and interested our Father in heaven is towards helping us to enjoy our day without stress.

He wants us to know that He is able and far better equipped to carry our burdens for us. We just need to let them go and let Him take them on Himself. “Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, The God of our salvation! Selah Psalm 68:19

That means God wants us to continuously hand over our daily burden to Him so He can exchange it for us with a daily benefit… Otherwise, before long we are weighed down again with fresh burdens.

Apart from laying our burdens upon Him daily, He wants us to trust Him with them all; and as we do, we will find total peace and rest in Him. “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Trusting God with your burden is allowing Him time to do what He has chosen to do. Having the patience to say that God has taken charge of the situation and wait on Him… Unfortunately, some people go back to take the burden or luggage they have given to God, indirectly telling God that He is delaying acting on their request…

If we must hand over our burden to God, we must trust Him till the end even if it seems as though He has put it aside but one thing is sure… “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”  Romans 8:28

Get rid of every issue, unnecessary luggage and those things which continue to weigh you down. God is able and capable of handling those issues, burdens or luggage in your life!

Prayer
“The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift His countenance upon you, And give you peace.”’ (Amen)
