THE POWER OF SANCTIFICATION!

Sanctification is the process of being made holy, set apart for God’s purpose. It’s a journey of spiritual growth, transformation, and becoming more like Christ. The scripture says, “And Joshua said to the people, ‘Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.’” Joshua 3:5

This process involves yielding to God’s work in you, growing in faith and obedience, and becoming more Christ-like in thoughts, words, and actions. Think of it like refining gold. Impurities are removed, character is shaped, and purpose is revealed. Through reading God’s Word, prayer, and fellowship with believers, we become more like Jesus, reflecting His love and character.

It stands as an essential principle that highlights the importance of freeing oneself from detrimental emotions and thoughts, including pride, jealousy, and the burden of unforgiveness. The emotions we experience can serve as toxic elements that infiltrate our lives, hindering the flow of the blessings that are meant for us by the power of God. By embracing a life that aligns with divine principles and nurturing a heart free from impurities, we create a pathway to receive the benevolence, grace, and resolutions that God offers in times of need.

The scripture says, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” (Matthew 5:8).  It conveys a profound message about the significance of purity in our hearts. It implies that our flaws and imperfections may act as barriers, preventing us from fully experiencing the divine blessings and the best that God has in store for us. It is an invitation to reflect on the state of our hearts and the importance of purity in our thoughts, intentions, and actions.

By nurturing a pure heart, we open ourselves to a deeper connection with God and the possibility of witnessing His presence in our lives that goes beyond our expectations. The call to sanctification is not merely about moral perfection but rather about cultivating sincerity, love, and authenticity in our relationship with ourselves and others. In doing so, we align ourselves with a higher purpose and invite the transforming power of God’s grace into our lives.

Regular reflection on our actions and attitudes is crucial. We must ask ourselves whether our feelings of resentment or doubt are hindering our happiness and personal growth. The presence of negative influences in our lives can significantly affect our future outcomes and experiences. It is essential to eliminate these obstacles so that the goodness of God can be fully revealed and appreciated.

It is our responsibility to recognise these barriers and work diligently to overcome them, ensuring that we are not only recipients of grace but also participants in the unfolding of our own destiny. The journey requires courage and determination, but the rewards of such efforts are immeasurable.

Let us embrace this call to action and aim to clear the path toward the blessings that are rightfully ours. Having a heart that is sanctified is crucial for truly experiencing the blessings of God, as well as the healing and restoration that come from Him. The journey of sanctification is not meant to be a one-time endeavour; instead, it should be embraced as a consistent daily practice.

This involves the intentional act of letting go of negative emotions such as anger, doubt, and unforgiveness. By making this a regular part of our lives, we cultivate a healthier mindset and foster emotional well-being, allowing ourselves to grow and evolve in a positive direction. In taking this step, we create an opportunity for God to manifest His strength and influence in our lives.

The situations that surrounded the Israelites as they journeyed into the Promised Land and were guided by the leadership of Joshua serve as a profound illustration of the significance of sanctification. It not only highlights the physical transition of a people but also emphasises the spiritual and moral cleansing necessary for them to fully embrace their new home. (Joshua 3:1-17)

The process of sanctification is woven throughout their journey, reflecting the deeper harmonies of renewal and preparation that are essential for any transformative experience. As they stand on the brink of a new beginning, the Israelites are reminded that to inherit the promises laid before them, they must first undergo a process of inner and outer cleansing, aligning themselves with the values and commitments that their new life demands.

This portion of the Bible resonates with the universal truth that before embarking on significant changes, one must often confront and purify the past, ensuring that they are ready to step into the future with integrity and purpose. After four decades spent in the wilderness, they encountered the formidable task of traversing the swollen waters of the Jordan River.

PREPARING FOR GOD’S PRESENCE!

Joshua called upon the people to cleanse themselves, highlighting the importance of this preparation as he assured them that God would carry out remarkable wonders in their midst. The process of cleansing was essential for them to experience the miraculous presence and wonders of God, including the remarkable parting of the Jordan River and the astonishing collapse of the walls of Jericho (Joshua 6:1-21).

Experiencing the miracles of God requires a deep commitment and a steadfast discipline in our journey towards sanctification. This commitment opens us to the divine wonders that can change our lives and those of others. Spending time with individuals who may not share our values or beliefs can significantly impact our capacity to recognise and appreciate the miraculous works of God in our lives.

After the Israelites had completed their sanctification, they proceeded to follow the priests into the river. Miraculously, the waters parted, creating a pathway that enabled them to cross over on dry ground. The act of faith and sanctification resulted in the realisation of God’s promises.

Joshua’s leadership emphasised the significance of individual accountability in the process of sanctification. Although leaders can provide direction and support, it is ultimately our responsibility to decide to embrace a life that is both sanctified and dedicated to a higher purpose. This choice requires us to uphold our moral principles, even in the face of difficulties, and to dedicate ourselves to a life characterised by integrity.

Supernatural blessings have been set aside for us, yet we must first engage in a process of sanctification. God provides us with the strength and elegance needed to rise above obstacles and resist temptations. While the act of forgiving may present challenges, it plays a crucial role in allowing us to fully embrace and receive the blessings that life has to offer. Experiencing bitterness and resentment can create a heavy burden that weighs down the spirit, making life feel much more difficult than it needs to be.

In contrast, the act of releasing these negative emotions and choosing to move forward opens up a path to healing and growth. Embracing the journey of letting go allows for a lighter heart and a clearer mind, paving the way for new opportunities and positive experiences. It’s a transformative process that can lead to a more fulfilling and joyful existence, free from the chains of past grievances.

The human body can be considered a powerful symbol representing the essential requirement for regular cleansing and renewal in our lives. Just as our physical form requires maintenance and care to function optimally, so too does our inner self require cleansing to access the best in God. This highlights the importance of not only tending to our physical health but also nurturing our mental and emotional well-being. In this way, the body becomes a reflection of our overall state, emphasising the interconnectedness of our physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions.

Engaging in self-care and the process of sanctification requires the release of feelings such as guilt, insecurity, and emotional pain. It is essential to acknowledge these burdens and allow oneself the freedom to move beyond them. By doing so, individuals can create a more nurturing environment for their mental and emotional well-being.

This journey towards healing and self-acceptance is vital for personal growth and overall happiness. Embracing this path can lead to a more fulfilling and balanced life, where one can aim without the weight of past experiences holding them back. As you engage in the process of sanctification, I decree you will profoundly experience God’s presence and be transformed into His image in Jesus’ name.

May the Lord bless you and keep you; may the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift His countenance upon you and give you peace.
