Today, I am writing on what I titled “The throne of grace”. Thrones are a symbol of power and authority. The power of any throne is determined by the one sitting on it. The greatest of all thrones is the throne of grace where God our Father sits as the king of all kings. It’s a throne that is full of grace (unmerited favour) and made to work for our favour. The scripture says “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” Hebrews 4:16
Whether we believe it or not, there are evil thrones the enemy has set up to work against God’s people. You may not see it but you can feel the effect on your health, family, marriage, finances or expectations. The good news is that you are connected to the throne of grace that is more powerful than all thrones. Be it thrones in the heavenly places, on earth or beneath the earth. The scripture says “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12
Whatever seems permanent is not permanent because you can address it through the throne of grace. Don’t forget, it’s a throne made to work in your favour. When the evil thrones say you will never get well, I can hear a voice from the throne of grace saying “Overruled, I’m restoring health to you”. You will never get out of debt. The voice from the throne of grace says Overruled, you will lend and not borrow. You won’t break that addiction. The voice from the throne of grace says Overruled, freedom is coming, wholeness is coming and nothing can hold you bound anymore!
Now, don’t allow what the voices from evil thrones say to become permanent in your thinking. Anything that contradicts God’s favour in your life is the activities of the evil thrones. It’s only temporary. That may be the way it is now, but bring your case to the throne of grace to overrule every evil throne and their activities over your life. It just so happens that you are related to the one who makes the decisions. The scripture says, Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass, when the Lord has not commanded it? Lamentation 3:37
The Psalmist said, “My enemies turned in retreat. They were defeated before me, for you have judged in my favour,” (Psalm 9:3) Those enemies that have come against you, the enemy of sickness, the enemy of addiction, fear, struggle, lack, the God who sits on the throne of grace is working in your favour. You are about to get a new verdict. You are going to see a breakthrough in your health. Doors are going to open bigger than you have imagined. God is going to bring divine connections, the right people across your path.
And you may not be in a good place right now but where you are is not who you are, what didn’t work out doesn’t define you and where you come from doesn’t have to limit where you are going. How you start is not important, how you finish is what matters, You are the one to set a new standard. You are the one to break out of the mould. You can be the first one in your family to turn things around. Don’t settle for what the evil thrones are telling you about your past.
You may be facing challenges that look permanent, dreams that seem impossible, and you don’t see a way. Don’t worry, God has a way. He knows how to use the throne of grace to speak on your behalf. He controls the whole universe. The evil throne may tell you, Just accept it, the sickness, the legal problem is too big, God is saying, “It’s no match for me. Your deliverance has come. Start dwelling on how big your God is. All through the day, “Lord, thank you, that the throne of grace is working on my behalf.
Sometimes we think it’s God versus the enemy, but the enemy is not an equal opposite of God. We have hot, cold, light, darkness, good, evil, those are equal opposites but it’s not God and the enemy, God created the enemy. God is the Creator, and Satan is a created being. He is a fallen angel. He wasn’t made in the image of God, you were made in the image of God. But if you see the enemy as being this powerful force that can stop you, control you, determine your destiny, then you are giving him power over you that he doesn’t have.
When Jesus came out of the grave, He took away the keys of death and hell. He said, “All power has been given unto me, now I’m giving it to you”. You are more powerful than any force that is trying to stop you. The enemy has already been defeated, we are in a fixed fight. We know the outcome, God says He always causes you to triumph. He says He is going to judge in your favour.
I read about a young lady, who came out of a very difficult environment. Her father died when she was six, and not long after that, her mother had to go on dialysis. They were very poor. When other kids are out playing in the neighbourhood, she would be at home taking care of her sick mother. Twelve years old, she would walk up to the store and buy groceries, and cook for the family. She would get her little brother dressed and ready for school every day.
Being at such a disadvantage, it looked like she would miss her purpose, but despite these hardships, she kept being her best. She didn’t have a victim mentality, she believed in the God who overrules, and she excelled in school. She got a full scholarship to a prestigious university. She got her degree, then went on to get her master’s. Today, she owns a very successful business.
She is happily married, has three beautiful children. She told her pastor, I never dreamed I would be here. I’m the first one in my family to get a degree, the first one to own our own business, and the first one to raise my children in church”. All the odds were against her. She could have become what the enemy put together but what happened? Her case was addressed in the throne of Grace and God “Overruled on her behalf”. He didn’t just bring her out, He compensated her.
Breaking Free from Family Patterns: Finding Hope in the Throne of Grace
You may have situations that put you at a disadvantage. God sees it, He knows what you have been through. He knows what you didn’t get. That is the evil throne declaration. The good news is that our God is in the overruling business. Your time is coming. Vindication is coming. Promotion is coming. Abundance is coming. Keep being your best, keep honouring God, and like with her, there is favour in your future that’s going to amaze you.
The interesting thing is that many of the things we struggle with have been passed down in our family line. It’s not a coincidence that we are tempted in certain areas, having to deal with an addiction, depression, or a hot temper. Those are spirits that keep getting passed down from generation to generation. Just like we can pass down physical traits, our looks, our size, our hair colour, we can pass down attitudes, dysfunction, and depression. The enemy didn’t start with you, he started way back in your family line.
In the scripture, Isaac’s wife, Rebecca, was dishonest. She manipulated her children, she deceived her husband to try to get her way, well, her son, Jacob, was just like her. He was a deceiver, he tricked his brother out of his birthright. Jacob’s uncle, Laban, had the same problem, he was dishonest. He told Jacob, “If you will work for me for seven years, I will give you one of my daughters as your wife”. He did that, and Laban said, “Oh, I changed my mind. I didn’t mean seven years, I meant 14 years”. (Genesis 29:21-25)
However, Joseph was just the opposite of his father’s bloodline. He was a man of great integrity. You won’t read one negative thing in the scripture about Joseph. Up to him, there was deception, dishonesty, and manipulation, but when it came to Joseph, everything stopped. What happened? God said, Joseph shall not be infected by the challenging bloodline pattern of his family. Some of the things that you are dealing with, are things that have been passed down, it didn’t start with you, but I believe it’s going to end with you.Â
Jesus said to Peter, “Satan has come to sift you like wheat, but Peter, I have prayed for you to strengthen you so your faith will not fail”.(Luke 22:32) Jesus was saying, “Peter, the enemy is coming against you, to try to distract you, discourage you, get you off course, but don’t worry, Peter, I’m praying for you. I’m going to strengthen you. I am not going to let you be defeated, the throne of grace will speak for you!
Two thousand years ago, Jesus hung on the cross. He was beaten by soldiers, mocked, and ridiculed, it looked like it was over. All of hell was rejoicing, but in the heavens, God didn’t panic, He didn’t say, “What happened? My plan didn’t work out”. He simply said, “Overruled”. The evil thrones said Jesus was done, defeated, the throne of grace said, “I don’t think so”. On the third day, Jesus came out of the grave. He said, “I am He that lives. I was dead, but now I am alive forevermore” (Revelation 1:18)
If God can overrule death, the grave, and forces of darkness, don’t you think He can overrule what’s holding you back? Those obstacles may look permanent, but in your spirit, you need to hear God saying, “Overruled”. You need to see the power from the throne of grace responding on your behalf. That dysfunction may have been in your family line for generations but this is a new day. The throne of grace is speaking on your behalf
Now, I decree and declare, God is delivering you from powerful enemies. Right now, He is judging in your favour. What stopped you in the past will stop you no more. Anything that tormented you in the past shall torment you no more. You are coming into freedom, wholeness, abundance, victory, the fullness of your destiny, in Jesus’s name.
May the Lord bless you and keep you; may the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift His countenance upon you and give you peace
