Unexpected favour is a miracle that you didn’t see coming. It happens to you unexpectedly! You didn’t qualify but you were given the position. The report said you wouldn’t get well but suddenly, your health turned around. You were told you couldn’t have children but against all odds you conceived and now you have that baby. The scripture says, God “will arise and have mercy on Zion; For the time to favour her, Yes, the set time, has come.” Psalm 102:13
We have been taught to be faithful in the slow periods, to endure when things aren’t going our way and that’s important. We have to pass the test but sometimes we are being faithful without releasing our faith. We are enduring without expecting. We are waiting for the conditions to change before we can get our hopes up or get delighted in the Lord.
Thoughts may tell you, “Be discouraged. It’s never going to change. The conditions are not favourable”. Don’t believe those lies. You are a candidate for unexpected favour. He is about to do something you didn’t see coming. He is going to surprise you with His favour. It’s going to be bigger than you thought, better than you imagined, more rewarding than you have dreamed.
Now, don’t complain because of challenges! You are in a prime position for an unexpected favour in your life. In the scripture, Sarah gave birth to a son at the age of 90 years. (Genesis 21:1-7) That was not expected… It’s called unexpected favour. David was a teenager taking care of His father’s sheep. He had no formal training and no military experience, he was a shepherd, yet the prophet Samuel showed up at his house and anointed him the next king of Israel. It’s called unexpected favour. (1 Samuel 16:12-13)
David received an unexpected favour when he didn’t have the qualifications and when he didn’t see it coming. It was boring out in the shepherd’s fields. It was lonely… You don’t know what God is up to in your waiting for Him to do something concerning your case. You don’t know when He is about to show up and do something unusual.
You may feel overlooked, nobody is giving you credit, and you may look helpless. Don’t worry, God knows how to promote and favour you. The Israelites were in the desert headed toward the promised land and they complained to Moses that they didn’t have any meat to eat. They were tired of eating the same manna every day.
God told Moses He was going to give them meat, not just for a day… but Moses said, “God what do you mean? If we butchered all our flocks and all of our herds, we wouldn’t have enough meat for these two million people”. Moses was looking at it from a practical point of view, thinking, “We are in the desert… But with God all things are possible. unexpected favour can never be restricted by circumstances.
God said, “Moses, is there any limit to my power”? He was saying, “Do you think the challenges around you can stop me from releasing my favour on you? Do you think because the conditions are not favourable, somehow that can limit my power? Don’t you know I created the universe, I spoke the world into existence, I flung stars into space, that nothing is too difficult for me”?
The next morning, God shifted the winds and caused a huge flock of quail to come into their camp. There were so many quail, they were flying 3 feet off the ground. The scripture says no one gathered less than 50 bushels and what’s interesting is that quail don’t usually fly that far away from the sea, way out into the desert but God controls the winds. He controls the quail. (Numbers 11:31)
You may not see how your situation could work out. You are surrounded by challenges and none of the conditions look favourable, but God knows how to shift the winds. He knows how to bring the quail, the right people, favour, healing, and restoration. He is not limited because you are surrounded by challenges. Unexpected favour breaks barriers and limitations!
I read about a lady who had gone through seven miscarriages. The doctors told her that there was something wrong with her womb she would never be able to carry a baby and that she should stop trying. She had big tears running down her cheeks, so heartbroken. She was consumed by this challenge, it didn’t look good, and the odds were against her, but people don’t have the final say, God does.
Not long after the doctor’s report, she conceived and carried the baby full term. Her doctor said in 25 years of practising medicine, he had never seen such a miraculous case before. The odds may be against you and every voice says, “You will never have a baby, never get well, never meet the right person for you, never break the addiction”. God is about to show forth His favour in your life and make things happen that looked impossible. There is no limit to His power when you believe all things are possible.
In John chapter 5:1-9, there was a crippled man that had been laying by the pool of Bethesda for 38 years. There were five porches filled with sick people surrounding this pool. Verse 4 says an angel would go down to the pool at a certain season and stir the waters. The first ones to get in would be healed.
Jesus said to him, “Get up, pick up your bed, and walk,” and instantly, the man was healed. He stood up and walked out of there. God was showing us how He can release His favour on us in the middle of challenges. With God by your side, you have to be ready for anything good from Him.
GET READY FOR UNEXPECTED FAVOUR!
You may not see any sign of God’s favour, all the circumstances say you are stuck, just endure it! No, get ready for unexpected favour, Get ready for an “I didn’t see it coming healing” for “a that doesn’t make sense blessing”. God is going to show His favour in your life, irrespective of the challenges confronting you.
The scripture says that God will make rivers in the desert, and streams in the barren places. God can cause you to blossom at any place even when the circumstances say, “It’s not going to happen. It’s not the right time. You have too many disadvantages”. God is not waiting for the conditions to be favourable. He is going to make rivers in the desert. He is going to favour you wherever you are! (Isaiah 43:19)
Do you feel neglected? You are stuck in some area? Stay encouraged. God has you in the palm of His hand. He sees what’s happening. He hasn’t brought you this far to leave you. He is about to do something out of the ordinary, something greater than what you have imagined. An unexpected favour is coming your way in Jesus’ name.
Are you among the people who are saying “God, I believe in your unexpected favour. The report doesn’t look good, but I know you can heal me. I have had the addiction for years, but I know you can free me. I have been praying for a life partner but I know you are about to surprise me with a person after your heart. My family has challenges but I know, as for me and my house, we will serve the lord”.
Something is about to happen in your life. You can’t see it coming. You feel like you are stuck, but suddenly, you are going to break the addiction. Suddenly, you are going to meet the right person. Suddenly, God is going to catapult you to the next level. You are going to break forth into a long-awaited heart desire of yours in Jesus’ name.
Jesus asked the crippled man if He wanted to be well. In one sense, He was saying, “I need your permission to help you. If you are not in agreement with me, I can’t turn this around”. Will you give God permission to free you, permission to heal you, permission to bless you?
You have to get in agreement with God. As long as you are thinking of all the reasons why it’s not going to happen, talking about how impossible it is, then you will get stuck where you are, and you may not see how it can work out, that is because you are looking at it in the natural.
He can bring quail in from the sea. He can heal you without the treatment. He can promote you like David without the qualifications. The conditions may not look favourable, and may not look like they will ever change but the unexpected favour of God will intervene on your behalf.
This is what faith is all about. Turn it around. Lord, I don’t see a way but I know you are still on the throne. You have done it for me in the past. Lord, I want to thank you because you will do it for me again in the future.
Jesus healed the man, not only when he was not expecting it but He did it the unusual way. He didn’t have him dip himself in the pool. It was an unexpected favour. God is not only going to do things for you unexpectedly but nontraditional way. It’s not going to be the way you thought, with the people you thought. Don’t put God in a box and tell Him how to do it, when to do it or who to use. He has it all figured out.
As long as you are set in your thinking, here is how it’s going to happen, and who He is going to use, and when it’s going to happen, then you will be frustrated. God has ways you have never thought of that will cause you to experience His unexpected favour… I pray for you that the unexpected favour of God will locate you at the point of your need in Jesus’ name.
The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift His countenance upon you, And give you peace.”’!
